Simultaneous and Consecutive Japanese Interpreters

A thorough knowledge of terminology of the source and target languages is required for, however, does not suffice for a professional interpreter. Techniques beyond the simple linguistic ability such as the ability to make instantaneous decisions, research capacity, stamina and so forth are also absolutely essential. Well-trained interpreters of OHASHI with extensive experience can serve for various occasions such as;

· Business Meetings, Conferences, Presentations, Consumer Interviews and Negotiations
· Depositions and Court Hearings

Simultaneous Interpretation

In simultaneous interpretation, interpreters interpret a language literally as it is spoken to audiences. In most cases, simultaneous interpretation services are provided using audio equipment. When the size of an audience is very small, with one or two people, whispering interpretation is performed.  Simultaneous interpretation is physically demanding even for well-trained interpreters and hence, in order to ensure the quality of interpretation, we usually send a pair of interpreters for a simultaneous interpretation assignment.

Consecutive Interpretation

In consecutive interpretation, an interpreter takes notes while a speaker delivers a short segment of his/her speech, and then interprets the segment to the audience while the speaker remains paused.  This is the most common form of interpretation and no special equipment is required.
